Hi! Thanks for visiting my website. I do things with words. I'm a journalist, editor and proofreader. I've written, edited and managed social media for newspapers, magazines and websites. I spent 10 years at the Ventura County Star in Southern California as an assistant entertainment editor and multimedia journalist, and before then I was a reporter and editor at L.A. Parent magazine. I’ve also written for the Los Angeles Times, Slate, the American Library Association and nonprofits, and I am developing skills as a photojournalist. My specialty is writing about the arts, culture and lifestyle, but I've covered everything from health and politics to religion and finance. I edit anything from academic papers to books and websites, and publications for universities including UC Santa Barbara and California Lutheran University. I graduated from Mount Saint Mary's University in Los Angeles, California, and am earning my M.A. in journalism at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City, with a concentration in arts and culture, set to graduate in spring 2025. I love poetry, photography, Winnie-the-Pooh (classic, not Disney), ballerina roses, polka dots, kindness, Emily Dickinson, sunshine, Samuel Beckett, small towns, museums, classical music and any sort of creativity on a live stage. A bunch of my stories are on my Authory page. Send me an email at karenlindell2@gmail.com or kll2143@columbia.edu.
